Advertising answers
- Why do I need to log-in?
You'll need to log-in to identify yourself and your account in order to amend
your advert or edit your profile.
- I've forgotten my password, what can I do?
Do not panic! go to the log-in page
and select the forgotten password link you will then be asked to enter your
email address and we'll email your password to you straight away.
- How much does it cost to advertise?
This depends on the price of the product you are selling.
For any item/s under £40 the advert is free of charge. Items between £40 and
£1000 are £10 for 30 days and items over £1000, £30 for 45 days.
- How do I place an advert?
Firstly you will need to register
your details with us or log-in if you already hold an account. Once
logged in you will be able to place your advert. If the price of the item
is under £40 your advert will become live immediately. For items over £40
you will need to complete our online payment process (see FAQ 5).
- How do I pay for an advert?
Once you have completed your advert choose the 'Pay Now' option. Most major
credit cards are accepted. We use direct card processing with WORLDPAY where
your card will be immediately approved/declined. Once your payment has been
accepted your advert will become live.
- How do I amend my advert after I have placed it?
Log-in and follow the links to
edit your text or images.
- Can I change the price of the item I'm selling?
Yes but with certain restrictions. The price of an advert cannot be moved from one price band to a higher one
This shouldn't be a problem as it's unlikely that you would want to increase the price of an item.
The price of your item can always be reduced. This may affect the price of any renewal (making it cheaper or free depending on the new price).
- Can I delete an advert?
Yes, you can delete an advert, after logging in, select you advert and click
the 'Delete this advert' link. Be aware that once you have chosen to delete
your advert, your account will remain valid until the adverts expiry date
however, if you wish to reinstate your adverts you will have to add the
details and images again.
- How long does an advert last for?
For any items advertised below £1000 your advert will last for 30 days,
items above £1000 will last for 45 days from the date that the advert
is entered.
- Can I renew my advert(s)?
Yes! You will be sent an email reminding you that your advert is about to expire. This will include instructions on how to renew. (Please note that this also applies to free adverts)
- How do I add images to my advert?
You can do this two ways, either, by using a digital camera; take your picture,
save it at the appropriate size on your computer (maximum of 250 pixels
square) and using the 'browse' facility in the 'upload pictures' stage of
placing your advert, browse to your pictures and add them direct from your
computer. Alternatively you can take a picture with a normal camera, and
scan it and save it to your computer as you would a digital image. Images
should be in .jpg format and no larger than 250 pixels square.
- Can I access my account at any time?
Yes, you can log-in to your account at any
time, your account details will be instantly updated.
- What do I do if I have a query about my advert?
You can contact us on 01452 741585 or email us via our contact
form
General answers
- What can I do if I see an advert for something that I feel isn't appropriate for this website?
If you feel that an advert is inappropriate, please inform us via our complaints procedure form. You may be concerned
about the actual product or service that is advertised, that the wording is misleading, offensive or libellous. Accessible Trader imposes reasonable
rules and regulations regarding the use of its advertising services. These rules and regulations include the use to
which an advertising account is used. Accessible Trader will not allow adverts that include material likely to cause
offence or are of an illegal nature including pornography, inflammatory material relating to race, gender or disability and
any other such subject matter that is deemed unsuitable. However, some adverts may slip through the net - please let us know if you feel an advert contravenes our standards.
- Do businesses advertise on Accessible Trader?
Yes, they do. We encourage traders to use this website as a means for them to sell unwanted stock, end of line items - that sort of thing.
However, as a trader / business, they are legally obliged to make that fact known to you. When you see this symbol
you will know that the seller is a trader.
Next to the symbol will be the name of the trader e.g Fred's Motors. This will help you to identify the trader, possibly as a business that you have heard of or regularly buy from.
- I run a business that is accessible to people with disabilities, can I advertise my business on Accessible Trader?
You may own a hotel, restaurant, bed and breakfast or other business that is accessible to people with disabilities. The ideal place to advertise
your services and facilities is on our sister website, Good Access Guide. Full page, self loadable web pages
are available for £79+VAT per annum. Visit the website to see all the advertising options available.
